Finally a good breakfast

Lysebotn, Norway > Roldal, Norway

  • We woke up and the 50-yard walk to the campground facilities through the wet grass felt unbearable.

  • With the morning brain fog, we miscommunicated our meeting point and played hide and seek from the bathroom to the showers to the car to the cafe. We finally sat down for breakfast and had the dining room to ourselves. We each had the full English breakfast with fried eggs, bacon, toast, ham & cheese slices, baked beans and a little balsamic salad.

  • We packed up camp, walked near the ferry dock in the fjord and ate straight from a bush of wild raspberries.

  • We drove along the steep switchbacks and stopped at a swimming hole with a waterfall and ate a few more wild raspberries.

  • We continued our way on the four-hour drive to Roldal, a skiing community in the winter. We made a quick stop at a rest stop / disc golf course / swimming area.

  • We got to our AirB&B and had a relaxing evening, admired the host’s travel photos, enjoyed hot showers and packed our bags for Trolltunga. As we were getting the tent packed, we realized we lost our bag of stakes somewhere along the way.

  • We heard a knock at the door and two guys renting a condo near by were looking for a neighbor to help them with the central fire alarm - they weren’t sure if they had activated it or not. We weren’t much help, but found it strange that they came knocking on our door, which was several buildings down the road.

  • Accommodations: AirB&B, Roldal
