We all made it!
Kananaskis Country, AB
Everyone else arrived today, but with a few travel hiccups along the way
We got up and went for a walk around the grounds and had breakfast with both sets of parents (buffet); here is where we discovered the mini doughnut holes filled with a caramel sauce inside - they became a daily staple
We all piled into the Hyundai Palisade (including Oslo) and went to Johnston Canyon and met Harry and Cathy for lunch; we reserved a table at the Blackswift Bistro as a loophole to guarantee a parking space, but we were shocked to see how many open spaces there were (three years prior the cars lined the road for two miles); the bruschetta bread was insanely crunchy - made me nervous about chipping a tooth
We hiked to the lower falls and then half of the group kept trekking to the upper falls
On the way out, Oslo was alarmed by the black bear statue and barked at it as if it were alive and a threat
We visited the Cave & Basin National Historic Site; learned about its origin and discovery and attempted to memorize the Native American sunshine chant
Stopped in Canmore at Safeway to grocery shop (Harry needed lots of ham to nourish himself throughout the week)
Ate at Forte (shared a braised pork belly appetizer and braised short rib pappardelle pasta…delicious)
Emily picked up Jay and Trish
Matt and Bill picked up Molly
