Wolf Doggos

Kananaskis Country

  • Got up early for a buffet breakfast and Liz drove Oslo into Banff for doggy daycare at Veronica’s

  • We caravanned to Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary - they remodeled since our last visit

  • We got checked in and started walking the grounds; we stopped at Temple for a Wolfdog wisdom session where we learned about wolves rolling in interesting scents to communicate back to the pack

  • We visited Cascade and Yamnuska enclosures for the interactive tour; Zeus and Kuna were the adoptive mother and father of many rescued wolfdogs - both are high content; Nova is thought to be the highest wolf content Wolfdog on the property (Arctic wolf) and “still lives at home with mom and dad” - very submissive and obedient

  • We continued to walk the grounds while the wolfdogs engaged in a coordinated howl

  • We saw the sanctuary staff unload a crate of two wolfdogs from a truck

  • We bought Oslo a banana and Wolfdog stuffed animal (it went to a good cause)

  • We drove to Banff to ride the gondola up Sulfer Mountain

  • At the top, we walked along the platform to the watch tower and took a group picture in the rain

  • Matt went down to pick up Oslo from daycare and the rest of us enjoyed souvenirs shopping and warm drinks

  • We rode the gondola down and went to Three Bears Brewery for dinner

  • Mom and dad kept asking when we were getting to the teahouse, which became the running joke

  • We shared a margarita pizza and steak lettuce wraps

  • We returned to the resort (or as dad would call it, “the motel”) and turned in for the night

  • Molly gave us our wedding gift a couple of days early - an entire suitcase of SNACKS!

  • “Campground”: Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge
