Breakfast and back to bed!
Whistler, British Columbia
Woke up ready for our special weekend breakfast at 4:30 AM; we made pancakes and leftover Mexican scramble and went straight back to bed
When we awoke for a second time to actually start the day, our friendly Korean neighbors came over to thank us for giving Cindy a ride to work the day before… Matt forgot to put on a shirt when he stepped outside; they gave us really thoughtful / beautiful gifts - a mug with a bicycle and two bracelets
Went for our morning walk and was stopped my a little boy on a mountain bike - maybe 11 or 12 years old - that wanted to pet Oslo; he was excited to tell us about his upcoming bike camp in Whistler and the tricks he’s been able to land
Liz caught up with Arianna
Went to Euphoria Rideworks to get Matt a new chain; the shop workers / bike mechanics were nice and a bit eccentric - we chatted with them as they worked; they both loved living in Whistler, really talked it up (tons of Olympians live here apparently)
While they finished up at Euphoria, Liz wandered around the block to Purebread; they peered inside one in Whistler Village the day before and the mystery of what goodies they offered lingered
Liz was close to losing all sense of self control, buying two of everything in the store - she carefully chose a savory and a sweet item: cheddar, bacon, chive scone and a peanut butter scottie … they were to die for
Went to Alpha Lake Park to let Oslo swim and cool down since the temperature was creeping up and the sun blazing; Oslo played with his ball fetching and dock jumping twin (Stevie), a young female Bernese mountain dog, Sam the husky and a one year old mixed lab and mastiff
We left the park and headed to One Mile Lake to hike Lumpy’s Epic, but the trail system was confusing with all of the interwoven tracks and the trail itself was rated as difficult cause, so we opted for something easier
We walked halfway around One Mile Lake to the dog beach and let Oslo take another dip; we continued on and Matt led us down a horse path through the grass that took us nowhere
We followed the main gravel trail into the town of Pemberton - we were less than impressed; it was small with nice parks, but not much of a retail or dining scene
We stopped at the dog beach again and Oslo was solely interested in wading around and searching for fish; meanwhile we met Biscuit and his owner from Scotland
Headed back to the truck, drove back to camp, made dinner, worked on the blog and enjoyed a mountainside fire
Campground: Whistler RV Park and campground
