Yeah right, Jose!

Victoria, British Columbia (Vancouver Island)

  • It was a beach day

  • We got up, took a walk and hung around the camper in the morning to get a few things done

  • Hit the road and drove along the south west coast to Sooke

  • Parked at the China Beach day use area, but hiked the start of the Juan de Fuca trail back to mystic beach (2 KM each way); the hike was easy, especially compared to the previous day’s scramble up Mount Finlayson; through a moss covered forest of old trees, zig zagging across the interwoven root system

  • Reached the beach! Hung out for a couple of hours; Oslo relentlessly played fetch the entire time and dig holes in the sand in a game of burying and uncovering the ball when left to his own devices; met Palmer (golden retriever) and Toby (fox red lab)

  • Checked out the dribbling waterfall

  • Drove over to Sooke Potholes Provincial Park; rode our bikes (even though prohibited) along the river trail and climbed down to get to the river and potholes created by the last ice age; stopped at the viewpoint; (I asked Liz if she wanted to hike any more, to which she replied “yeah right, Jose”)

  • Made sausages / brats for dinner with a side of Mediterranean salad

  • Campground: Malahat Mountain Meadows RV Park
