Yeah right, Jose!
Victoria, British Columbia (Vancouver Island)
It was a beach day
We got up, took a walk and hung around the camper in the morning to get a few things done
Hit the road and drove along the south west coast to Sooke
Parked at the China Beach day use area, but hiked the start of the Juan de Fuca trail back to mystic beach (2 KM each way); the hike was easy, especially compared to the previous day’s scramble up Mount Finlayson; through a moss covered forest of old trees, zig zagging across the interwoven root system
Reached the beach! Hung out for a couple of hours; Oslo relentlessly played fetch the entire time and dig holes in the sand in a game of burying and uncovering the ball when left to his own devices; met Palmer (golden retriever) and Toby (fox red lab)
Checked out the dribbling waterfall
Drove over to Sooke Potholes Provincial Park; rode our bikes (even though prohibited) along the river trail and climbed down to get to the river and potholes created by the last ice age; stopped at the viewpoint; (I asked Liz if she wanted to hike any more, to which she replied “yeah right, Jose”)
Made sausages / brats for dinner with a side of Mediterranean salad
Campground: Malahat Mountain Meadows RV Park
