We made it to Norway!

Amsterdam, Netherlands> Oslo, Norway

  • We were exhausted when we landed in Amsterdam. We went through passport control and found the KLM lounge. We had a good breakfast with the best roasted mushrooms and then made our way to our gate. We slept nearly the entire two-hour flight to Oslo, landed, bought Freia chocolate and gummies from the duty free store (avoiding anything with black licorice), picked up our bags and picked up our rental car. Thankfully, they upgraded us to a Toyota Rav 4 brand new off the lot.

  • We drove to our AirB&B in Baerum. It was a very tiny apartment, but we were used to small spaces after living in the camper for the past three months. We took naps, had a PA call and went to the grocery store. Options in Norway are rather limited, but probably for the better. For example, their cereal options are a small fraction of what we’re used to in the U.S. and there are no sugary options like Lucky Charms or CinnamonToast Crunch. They were all whole grain, bran style cereals. Boxed items and prepared foods were not overly priced, but proteins were expensive. A small pack of chicken breasts runs around $14 here. We still need to learn how to eat here on a budget and without a refrigerator, so we started with some basics. We bought a pack of ground chicken and frozen carbonara pasta for dinner.

  • We went back to the AirB&B, made dinner and watched the first 10 minutes of Netflix’s Girl In the Picture before falling asleep. We fell asleep around 8:30 PM, woke up at 2:00 AM for a bit and then went back to bed until 10:00 AM. This is probably the most jet lagged we’ve felt ever.

  • Accommodations: AirB&B, Baerum
