So long Crete
Tuesday. October 4th: Crete, Greece > Athens, Greece
Our time in Crete was coming to an end. We left the AirB&B after saying our goodbyes to Manolis and Debbie and found an espresso bar in Heraklion to camp out and plan for Argentina. After caffeinating ourselves, we realized the WiFi was too weak to get anything done, so we walked up the street to a bakery. We treated ourselves to Kalitsounia and a cruffin filled with an ooey gooey caramel. The woman serving us even threw in a traditional Greek bread that was similar in texture to a bagel and covered in sesame seeds.
We stayed there for several hours, deep in planning mode and a little nervous about how we would optimize our time in Argentina.
Once the sun started to set, we made our way to the Heraklion port and boarded the ferry. Matt played tetris on the first floor of the garage, getting within six inches of the parked car beside him, and then we checked into our room. We stayed up for a few hours and then slept in a twin-sized bed on our way back to Athens.
