The last supper

Saturday, October 29th: Santa Elena / Santa Fe > Buenos Aires, Argentina

  • Matt and Tim packed up and headed south to Santa Fe. Once they arrived, we drove into the city in search of the Western Union - the same one Liz visited the day before, but its location eluded her. We finally found it and picked up our additional pesos.

  • We drove four hours to Buenos Aires, hooked on another Chameleon podcast about the Hollywood Con Queen, stopping only for lunch where we had empanadas and tortas. We picked up our extra suitcase and checked into the Hilton in Puerto Madero. We reorganized all of our gear and packed for our upcoming flights. Then we went to the executive lounge for happy hour.

  • Liz did laundry while Matt and Tim dropped off a suitcase at the storage place in Palermo and walked right into a PRIDE celebration.

  • We met for dinner at La Cabrera - one of the top recognized steak houses (“parillas”) in Buenos Aires. We had little room in our stomachs after happy hour, but had steak smothered in blue cheese, french fries topped with a scrambled egg mixture and humita empanadas. Like most restaurants in Argentina, they brought us a starter (that you don’t order, but you still have to pay for) - it had several sample sized ramekins filled with sweet and savory bites like pureed sweet potato, creamed corn topped with melted cheese, what we think was some kind of apple sauce, etc. At the end of the meal, our waiter tried to dupe us, the American tourists, by removing the french fries from the bill, but still forcing us to pay it so he could pocket the extra cash.

  • Accommodations: Hilton, Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires, Argentina
