Vettifoss
Sunday, August 14th: Aurland, Norway > Utladalen, Norway
We got up a little late and missed our chance to do the Galdhopiggen hike, so we ate our leftover sweet cardamom rolls (sjokoladeboller) and packed up.
We drove through the Laerdal Tunnel, the longest road tunnel in the world stretching 24.5 KM.
We went to Jotunheimen National Park and hiked to Vettifoss - Norway’s tallest waterfall. Most of the trail was packed gravel with some gradual inclines that followed the river, and then the last kilometer took us past a farm, into the woods and over steep rocks. We climbed around the base of the waterfall to try and get an unobstructed view, had a snack and hiked / jogged back. Along the way, we stopped for several patches of wild raspberries and strawberries.
We set up camp nearby in Utladalen.
Meanwhile Oslo has been acclimating to getting his teeth brushed in the morning. Mom said he didn’t enjoy it at first, but he’s more comfortable with it now.
