Please drug dog, let me pet you

Thursday, October 6th: Athens, Greece > Atlanta, Georgia > Santiago, Chile

  • We made it to the airport with plenty of time, so we ate lunch at Gregory’s and Cinnabon, and made our way to the gate. It was a 12-hour flight and neither of us were tired enough to sleep, so we watched several movies and TV episodes (Jeffrey Dahmer, Dog, Where the Crawdads Sing, etc.). We had been upgraded to Comfort+ and still envied those in the Delta One cabin. Dinner was good - we had both the chicken option and gnocchi, followed by a series of snacks (since we learned there was a free basket at the back of the plane).

  • We arrived in Atlanta and re-checked one of our bags. As we were waiting at baggage claim, we saw a drug (or agriculture) sniffing dog on duty with her handler. Liz was missing Oslo so much that she approached the dog and waiter her turn to get sniffed. The dog went bag to bag and quickly passed over Liz, but it made her day and added a little pep to her step. We finally got into the Delta lounge - what a glorious day! Surprisingly, even though it was 4 AM Athens time, we didn’t feel too tired. We ate and stole a few snacks for the road (like gluten free brownies, which were surprisingly good). We boarded for Santiago and napped on the tarmac during a ground delay, ate our in-flight meal with the best dessert (passion fruit mousse that you sadly can’t even buy online), watched The Willoughbys and John Wick and slept.

  • Accomodations: Delta
