Grumpy hiker

  • Checked the Speckled Trout, but several cars / fishermen already there so we moved on

  • Dropped the camper at the park office for $5 per day

  • Hiked in to the Bald ahead via Orphan Lake Trail (miserable); Liz stopped on a guy’s rod

  • Set up camp

  • Liz and Matt started at his favorite hold, caught a steelhead on the fourth cast; switched to a pheasant tail nymph and caught a 20 inch brook trout on the first cast

  • Caught several females, released

  • Tim caught a male to keep and eat for dinner 

  • Potatoes, onions, steelhead 

  • First night in the tent was uncomfortable - cold, green sleeping bag zipper broken, small pillows

  • Heard a moose peeing, but it was actually rocks sliding down the bank

  • Campground: Bald Head Backcountry Site #1 of 4
